IN CASE YOU’RE WONDERING.

I was a clueless college senior with only a fuzzy idea of what I wanted to do after graduation. On a whim, I entered a national writing contest sponsored by Foote, Cone & Belding (FCB). First prize: a junior copywriting position in their San Francisco office. I won.

My first day on the job was highlighted by a field trip to the world's largest chicken processing plant. On Day 2, I settled into my new workspace—a converted storage closet. That’s when I asked my boss, “So tell me…What exactly does a copywriter do?” My career has been on an upward trajectory ever since. It had nowhere else to go.

In the years that followed, I've worked at agencies that run the gamut from publicly-traded global conglomerates to bare-bones start-ups, on accounts ranging from French champagne to canned dog food. This has taught me the value of having a versatile, adaptable skill set and how to be resourceful with budgets as low as $0.00.

I've won a few hundred creative awards and once greased the right palms to be named Portland Advertising Professional of the Year by the local ad club. On the award show circuit, I've been selected to judge the Clios, One Show, Communication Arts Advertising Annual, numerous major-market and regional Addy contests and the AAF National Student Advertising Competition.

Little-known fact: I once sued '80s TV icon "Mr. T" in L.A. County Small Claims Court and emerged victorious. (I didn't "pity the fool!" Long story.)

Born and raised in Wyoming, I'm one of the few ad professionals in America who can engage you in a deep, meaningful discussion about steer wrestling or crop rotation. What value this brings to my clients is somewhat debatable.
